So what is a social enterprise? (Supper Conversation at ffresh on May 18th)

The Supper Conversation on Monday 18th May (18:30 arrival) will take a look at Social Enterprise and I am delighted that Dr Martin Price is to be our lead contributor. Social Enterprise is a term bandied about by politicians of all hues.  Social enterprises use business practices for social goals, but how does this work in practice?

Martin has been working with and for Social Enterprises for more than twenty years in various roles.  He is the author of “Social Enterprise: What it is and why it Matters”, which Social Enterprise Magazine described as “No chaos, no babble, no evasion: Martin Price puts it all in accessible order.”

Over supper we shall facilitate a conversation (together with a starting quiz to test your understanding of some of the organisations and institutions that you deal with every day) which will look at:

  • What is a Social Enterprise?
  • How would you recognise one?
  • Which ones do you deal with already?

Martin is a Director of consultancy.coop LLP, a workers cooperative which provides services to Charities, Social Enterprises, Cooperatives and Voluntary Organisations, mostly in Wales. – www.consultancy.coop
He is a Chartered Statistician who has worked for British Gas, the Prince’s Trust, Mencap, Business in the Community and The Prince of Wales.
